Meet my octopus known as depression…When I met my octopus, it was one tender tentacle twisting at my arm, telling me how
much of a wasted space I was as a person. How I would never measure up to what
others expected and needed of me. Self-condemnation, self-hatred.
Helpful or Harmful?
The other day I went for my first run in a really long time. First, I stretched. Since my body has mostly been sitting at a desk, hiding inside all winter, it was uncomfortable even to stretch. Then, while I was running, I could tell my lungs weren't used to working so hard anymore. I could feel the burn in my chest as they expanded. I ran far enough and fast enough to push myself without hurting myself.

I think by now most of us know that how we eat is connected to our health…both physical and mental. BUT have you ever tried drastically changing the way you eat when you’re physically and mentally exhausted, stressed, anxious, and living in survival mode? It’s not easy! When you’re trying to make big life changes to improve your mental health while you’re struggling, it’s like there’s a disconnect between your knowledge and your willpower. You know what you have to do, and you WANT to do it. However, life circumstances make it hard.
