Navigating the Waters of Faith & Mental Health
When We Don’t Choose Change…
Life is like that sometimes. It seems to move along like a river, changing course, carrying us unwillingly down new paths. We can fight to swim against the current, but we will just end up tired and not where we wanted to be anyway. Often, it’s best to go with the flow of life and make new sweet memories in the place where life takes you. Kids grow up. Events change or cease to exist. Friends move. Other people make decisions that you weren’t part of but, unfortunately, affect your life too.
Do You Have an Octopus?
Meet my octopus known as depression…When I met my octopus, it was one tender tentacle twisting at my arm, telling me how

others expected and needed of me. Self-condemnation, self-hatred.
Do they know you by your love?

The Real Stuff
We need to love the real, broken people right in front of us, even when it’s hard. Once you get an up-close view of their pain, their story, and why they are who they are, it will be hard not to love them. So press in. Get closer. Get curious. Love them through their sharp edges and cracked foundation. Show them Jesus in you.

My eyes were on the baby monitor, waiting to see if the cough continued. It was quiet for a few seconds. Those seconds turned into a minute, and I let out the breath I hadn’t realized I was holding. The screen of the monitor went black, meaning no sounds or movement was detected.
