Finding Rest in the Psalms
In my most devastating and challenging seasons of life, the Psalms have been a refuge to me. In processing grief, transitioning to new seasons, or dealing with physical and mental health issues, the Psalms have become much more than a book to me - more of a living comfort and connection to the peace of God. In the Psalms we find every emotion imaginable. The Psalms are humanity anchored in the pursuit of God.
The Real Stuff
We need to love the real, broken people right in front of us, even when it’s hard. Once you get an up-close view of their pain, their story, and why they are who they are, it will be hard not to love them. So press in. Get closer. Get curious. Love them through their sharp edges and cracked foundation. Show them Jesus in you.
4 Easy Steps to Lament
Some people think that lament should be reserved for horrible tragedies and life-changing grief. But what if we practiced lament with our every-day disappointments? Would we then be more prepared to turn to God and use the same framework when a big tragedy hit? Would our relationship with God be deeper and more honest? I think when we hold back these parts of our lives, we slowly build a barrier between ourselves and God.
Loving Others Well in Their Brokenness
Since God has been in the darkness, we can have faith that He understands the pain and sin we struggle with and can redeem it.
