Navigating the Waters of Faith & Mental Health
Encouragement for Battling Social Anxiety
As I walked down the long hallway to the room where the moms’ group was meeting, my heart beat faster and faster. “Deep breaths. It will be fine,” I said to myself.
Walking into a room of strangers, I saw the eyes of about twenty seemingly perfect women peer up at me, smiling. Hesitantly, I found an empty seat and sat down.
Does God Really See Me?
Have you felt rejected by God?
Have you ever prayed fervently just to feel like your prayer wasn’t answered?
Has rejection from God’s people ever left you feeling like you were rejected by God Himself?
Have you spent much of your faith journey feeling like the church was a club you’re just waiting to be kicked out of? Or one you weren’t allowed to enter in the first place?
Have you ever heard the words, “The Holy Spirit didn’t prompt me to invite you.”? (Ouch.)

Like you don't quite fit in with the typical Christian crowd because you're a bit rough around the edges.
Like you don't quite fit in with your friends outside the church because you talk about Jesus "too much."

I heard one of them yell, “Stop trying to take me under!” The other boy yelled back, “I’m not trying to take you under. I’m trying to stay above!” Being a person who works with struggling people regularly and having been a struggling person myself, I was struck with the metaphor.
